Summer Sunrise 02

Painted from life.  I was looking opposite the sun.  That gave me tighter values.  When I have something on my canvas and want to keep it, I leave it.

Purple Garlic

I love painting garlic.  I had these sitting in the fridge for a little while.  Finally, I got the motivation to paint them.  Usually, I'll pair them with onions.  But the vase adds a nice touch of elegance.

Curtain

This was amazing.  My first painting didn't work out and I thought about leaving but I decided to do one more.  Well this was it. The sun behind this curtain of clouds. When I put it in a frame and hung it on the wall, the light really showed off.

Middle Tree

I finished this painting and put it in a frame, like I always do.  Then I notices the tree was in the middle.  So I'm embracing it!

Sunrise Study - South Texas 2

I really concentrated on showing the subtle value changes that are present at this time of morning.

Sunrise Study - South Texas

Sunrise study. There was a coyote in the distance barking at me the whole time.  The joys of plein air!

South Texas Cloud Study

Got the pallet knife out for theses clouds.  It was hot that day but the tops of the clouds were starting to form ice particles.

Dancing Light

You take a chance getting out of your comfortable bed to paint a sunrise.  Is the sunrise going to be worth it? Will it be too cloudy?  Well, this sunrise was really "on point". Very dramatic light stretched across the horizon.

Onions Sketch

This is the way I like to paint.  A few strokes in the proper place and leave it.  Less is MORE.

Railroad -SOLD

There are trains near my secret painting spot.  This one had been there for a few days.  I decided to just include him in my plein air sketch.

Florida Sand Dunes

Great day painting on Florida's east coast.  The beach was secluded so no one came up to talk to me so I just painted away.

Summer Sunset 1

Small sunset painting in rural south Texas.  I was standing in brush  up to my knees for this one.  I have to really examine the area I'm working in for snakes.

Clouds over South Texas

Cloud study while it was pretty hot.  Lately it's been getting to 100 every day.  I used a pallet knife to lay down some paint and move it around with a brush.

30% Chance

Quick study outside of what might be storm clouds.  Turned out it never came close to raining.
